Frankfurt Kurnit Adds Catherine Farrelly as Trademark Practice Co-Chair
NEW YORK – Frankfurt Kurnit Klein + Selz has appointed Catherine M. C. Farrelly (formerly Catherine M. Clayton) as partner and co-chair of the firm’s Trademark and Brand Management Group effective September 30th, 2014. Farrelly joins Frankfurt Kurnit from Gibbons, where she was a director and head of the trademark team.

Farrelly has a broad range of experience in trademark and copyright law. She has worked with some of the world’s largest companies on a wide range of litigation, licensing and prosecution matters, in industries ranging from apparel, cosmetics and entertainment to alcoholic beverages, financial services, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. In addition to helping clients establish and manage trademarks and trademark portfolios, she has substantial experience stopping the unauthorized use of trademarks and copyrighted material through negotiation, litigation and arbitration.

Content Partners, LLC, a leading independent owner of major studio-distributed films and television shows, has acquired from Medstar Television 400 Forensic Files episodes, and international distribution rights to Forensic Files II. Created by Paul Dowling, the President and CEO of Frankfurt Kurnit client Medstar Television, Forensic Files is a pioneer of true crime television. The series aired from 1996—2011 on TLC, and is currently on CNN-owned HLN network, streamed on digital platforms by FilmRise, and distributed to television outlets around the world. Read more.

Frankfurt Kurnit Client Northwell Health Gets Big Win in Battle with NYU Langone Health System
In a battle between two of the largest healthcare systems in the New York metropolitan area, a New York federal court on March 1st handed an early win to Frankfurt Kurnit client Northwell Health. NYU Langone Health System (“NYU Langone”) sued Northwell Health alleging false advertising and trade dress infringement (i.e., infringement of the overall design and appearance of NYU Langone’s advertisements)—under state and federal law.
