John B. Harris Joins Frankfurt Kurnit as a Professional Responsibility Partner
June 15, 2015 New York, N.Y. - Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, PC has added John B. Harris as a partner in the firm’s Professional Responsibility Group. Mr. Harris will also be a member of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Litigation Groups, and will join the editorial board of the law firm’s New York Legal Ethics Reporter. Mr. Harris joined the firm today.
“John Harris is one of the country’s finest legal ethics and white collar defense litigators,” said Frankfurt Kurnit Professional Responsibility Group Chair Ronald Minkoff. “We are thrilled that he is joining us.”
In his legal ethics and professional responsibility practice, Mr. Harris defends law firms, lawyers, and other professionals against claims of legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. He also frequently represents law firms in disputes with current and former partners. Mr. Harris currently serves as a member of the State Bar Professional Discipline Committee, and is a past Chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee of the New York City Bar Association, among other significant bar committee posts.
Mr. Harris also represents individuals and entities who are the subjects of either criminal or regulatory investigations. He represents public figures, corporate executives, and securities industry professionals against a wide variety of fraud and insider trading claims. In addition, he has advised on research analyst independence issues, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act cases, and "spy shop" matters.
Mr. Harris has litigated matters in New York State and federal courts (Southern and Eastern Districts), and appeared in numerous SEC, FINRA and Departmental Disciplinary Committee proceedings. He is a graduate of New York University School of Law (JD, 1985), where he was a member of the Annual Survey of American Law, and Yale University (BA, cum laude, 1978). Before joining Frankfurt Kurnit, he was a partner at Stillman & Friedman, P.C. and Ballard Spahr LLP. He has been recognized in Super Lawyers magazine as a New York-area Super Lawyer for eight consecutive years.

Content Partners, LLC, a leading independent owner of major studio-distributed films and television shows, has acquired from Medstar Television 400 Forensic Files episodes, and international distribution rights to Forensic Files II. Created by Paul Dowling, the President and CEO of Frankfurt Kurnit client Medstar Television, Forensic Files is a pioneer of true crime television. The series aired from 1996—2011 on TLC, and is currently on CNN-owned HLN network, streamed on digital platforms by FilmRise, and distributed to television outlets around the world. Read more.

Frankfurt Kurnit Client Northwell Health Gets Big Win in Battle with NYU Langone Health System
In a battle between two of the largest healthcare systems in the New York metropolitan area, a New York federal court on March 1st handed an early win to Frankfurt Kurnit client Northwell Health. NYU Langone Health System (“NYU Langone”) sued Northwell Health alleging false advertising and trade dress infringement (i.e., infringement of the overall design and appearance of NYU Langone’s advertisements)—under state and federal law.
