Adam Macy is counsel to the Entertainment Group.
Mr. Macy has an extensive background in structuring, negotiating, drafting and implementing development, production, financing and distribution deals for motion pictures, including agreements for movie acquisitions, production/finance/distribution arrangements, equity and debt investments, international co-productions, underlying rights, talent (above-the-line and below-the-line), sales arrangements and production services. In addition, he has advised on all practical aspects of production and distribution from pre-production planning through marketing/release execution.
Prior to joining Frankfurt Kurnit, Mr. Macy served as Senior Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs at Participant, the acclaimed television and film studio, which earned 86 Academy Award® nominations and 21 wins, including wins for Spotlight (Best Picture), An Inconvenient Truth (Best Documentary Feature) and Roma (Best Foreign Language Film).
In addition to his most recent role at Participant, Mr. Macy served as Executive, Business & Legal Affairs at David Boyle, APC, representing preeminent independent production, finance and distribution companies in the motion picture industry. He took pride in handling every aspect of each project’s life, from rights acquisition to structuring financing and production all the way through distribution, including for Darren Aronofsky’s mother!, Robert Eggers’s The Lighthouse, Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza.
He is admitted to practice in California.
