Larissa Calva Ruiz is counsel to the Entertainment Group. Her practice covers a range of transactional entertainment work, including film financing matters. She is recognized by Variety in its 2026, 2025 and 2021 Legal Impact Reports and is included in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Minority Leaders of Influence: Attorneys” list for 2021. Lawyers of Color named Ms. Calva Ruiz to their 2023 “Wonderful Women” list.

As part of Frankfurt Kurnit’s IP Finance Group, Ms. Calva Ruiz facilitates and executes a variety of financing transactions, including debt financing, bridge lending, equity investment, mezzanine financing, and tax credit lending for production companies, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, structured funds, and other award-winning clients.

Ms. Calva Ruiz continues to grow her presence in Mexico and the rest of Latin America, representing high-profile directors such as Michel Franco in connection with his feature film Dreams, and Julián de Tavira in connection with his directing services for the acclaimed HBO series Like Water for Chocolate. She also represented Magnetic Labs in a cross-border U.S.-Mexico loan transaction with Lemon Studios for the second season of the television series Las Azules and Represented General Atlantic in the negotiation and execution of a media rights agreement with Televisa relating to Club América. Fully bilingual, she provides legal services to clients in both English and Spanish.

She represents Sherborne Media Capital in various financing deals for films and television series produced around the world, including the limited series Vanished (starring Kaley Cuoco) and the feature film Motor City (starring Alan Ritchson and Ben Foster).

She represented The Curious Gremlin in the negotiation of its financing deal for the feature film The Wrong Girls (starring Kristen Stewart), and PlayAction Pictures in the negotiation of its financing deal for the critically acclaimed documentary Apocalypse in the Tropics.

Additionally, she represented Big Creek Projects in negotiating its financing deal for the feature film Atropia, winner of the 2025 Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, and she represented Songbird Studios in various distribution deals for the Oscar-nominated documentary Porcelain War (winner of the 2024 U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentaries).

Ms. Calva Ruiz received her law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and her LL.M. from UCLA School of Law. She is admitted to practice in California, New York, and Mexico.
