Harilyn Rousso Reads from Don’t Call Me Inspirational
Frankfurt Kurnit invites you to join us on March 20th, 2014, for a reading by Harilyn Rousso from her book, Don't Call Me Inspirational - A Disabled Feminist Talks Back. The reading will be followed by a discussion and Q&A. The book is an empowering and thought-provoking memoir from a well-known disability activist, feminist, psychotherapist, writer and painter who has cerebral palsy.
Ms. Rousso's work focuses on:
- - Overcoming the prejudice against disability (as opposed to overcoming disability)
- - How strangers, friends and family form attitudes about people with disabilities
- - Disability as a source of pride, identity and rebellion
- - The healing effects of intimacy and creativity
- - The disability rights community
"Don't Call Me Inspirational is irresistible to read, honest, insightful and universal." - Gloria Steinem
We are very pleased to be hosting this event, and we hope you will join us.
