Dorian Slater Thomas along with James Stewart of DLA Piper present, "The Ins and Outs of Working with Celebrities, Athletes & Influencers" during a Video Game Bar Association (VGBA) webinar. Dorian and James provide an overview of working with celebrities, athletes (including professional and student athletes) and influencers both in game and for promotional purposes. The discussion topis include:
- -Recent legal updates in the United States, including the Federal Trade Commission's recent updates to the FTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising and intellectual property risk posed when working with influencers.
- -Overview of working with celebrities and athletes to include them in the game and then working with the celebrity or athlete's third party brand partners (e.g. Tony Hawk and Subway using Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater for sponsored esports tournaments).
- -Video game companies approach brand-specific influencers (e.g. CaptainSparklez and Rosanna Pansino for Minecraft) and their use of the game companies' intellectual property to build their own brands to provide attendees with real world examples of how other companies are approaching these issues.”
