The People Are Revolting: Advertising in the Age of Review Sites
Online reviews play a critical role in the marketing landscape, and good reviews can help ensure business success. At the same time, negative reviews can depress sales of an existing business, or kill a new venture in the cradle. Is it possible to fight back against bad reviews? And when can you use positive reviews in your advertising campaigns? In this presentation, advertising lawyer Brian Murphy explores what you can do if you are unfairly reviewed and how you can use positive reviews to your advantage. Topics include:
- - The latest cases in which review sites and negative reviews have been challenged
- - A reexamination of CDA Section 230 safe harbors and other review site defenses
- - How to use positive reviews to substantiate advertising claims
- - Requirements when you recruit influencers and others to review your products
- - And much more
This program is for both lawyers and non-lawyers. This program has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for a maximum of 1.0 credit hours in Areas of Professional Practice. (Note: The content of this course is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys (non-transitional and transitional)).
