Privacy & Data Security Partner Rick Borden is quoted in the article, “Crypto Hack Lawsuits Rise as Theft Victims Try Untested Claims” published by Bloomberg Law. The article discusses Bloomberg’s analysis of lawsuits against cryptocurrency exchanges, digital wallet providers, and mobile service companies following a high number cyberattacks. In regards to lawsuits targeting companies blocked by mandatory arbitration provisions in plaintiffs’ user agreements; Rick is quoted saying, “Arbitration provisions, which require dispute resolution outside of the judicial system, aren’t necessarily consumer friendly. A losing plaintiff could, for example, end up having to pay the winner’s attorneys’ fees.”
