Delaware, Pennsylvania Advance Bills on Surveillance Pricing
Andrew Folks was recently quoted in the Privacy Daily’s article “Delaware, Pennsylvania Advance Bills on Surveillance Pricing.” Recently The Delaware House Economic Development Committee approved a proposed ban on using personal data and algorithms to set different prices for different consumers and Pennsylvania cleared a surveillance-pricing bill focused on rideshare companies. Businesses are increasingly having access to consumer data and automated decision-making systems that can determine what a particular consumer might be willing or able to pay, but Folks warns that business “using algorithms and personal data to set prices are grappling with an increasingly fragmented set of risks”.
