‘Epic,’ Viral Musical Retelling of ‘The Odyssey,’ to Become Animated Movie Thanks to Jerry Bruckheimer, Atlantic’s Kevin Weaver (Exclusive)

The Hollywood Reporter mentions Alan D. Sacks as counsel to Kevin Weaver, president of Atlantic Music Group. Weaver has partnered with Pirates of the Caribbean and Top Gun producer Jerry Bruckheimer to develop Epic, the TikTok-driven musical adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey—as an animated feature.

Created by Jorge Rivera-Herrans as a senior thesis project, Epic gained widespread attention after he began sharing his creative process on TikTok in 2021, followed by the release of musical sagas in 2022. The independently released EPs topped charts, amassed more than four billion global streams, and generated over seven billion short-form video views.

Weaver, whose credits include Barbie: The Album, The Greatest Showman, and Suicide Squad: The Album, brings extensive experience in launching blockbuster soundtrack projects.
