Frankfurt Kurnit Adds Litigation Partner Jacqueline Charlesworth in Los Angeles
September 4th, 2024 Los Angeles, CA - Frankfurt Kurnit Klein + Selz, PC has added Jacqueline Charlesworth, former General Counsel of the U.S. Copyright Office, as a partner in the firm’s Entertainment Litigation Group. Ms. Charlesworth is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jacqueline to the firm,” said Frankfurt Kurnit Litigation Group Co-Chair Maura Wogan. “Her deep copyright and music expertise will be a huge asset to our clients.”
Ms. Charlesworth, a nationally known litigator and transactional attorney, represents clients in copyright disputes and complex licensing matters—with a particular focus on music. Her client roster includes leading music companies, songwriters, and recording artists. She also represents national trade associations in legislative and regulatory matters. She was named a Woman Executive of the Year by Billboard magazine for her role in helping to craft and secure passage of the Music Modernization Act, landmark legislation that updated the U.S. music licensing system.

Frankfurt Kurnit is pleased to announce that its Interactive Entertainment and Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Groups are partnering with the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to enhance cooperation between ESRB’s Privacy Certified program and the firm. ESRB Privacy Certified assists companies in the video game and toy industries in implementing and maintaining lawful, transparent, and responsible data collection and privacy policies, as well as practices for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and data. In 2001, the Federal Trade Commission approved ESRB Privacy Certified to serve as one of six Safe Harbor programs, overseeing its members’ compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Content Partners, LLC, a leading independent owner of major studio-distributed films and television shows, has acquired from Medstar Television 400 Forensic Files episodes, and international distribution rights to Forensic Files II. Created by Paul Dowling, the President and CEO of Frankfurt Kurnit client Medstar Television, Forensic Files is a pioneer of true crime television. The series aired from 1996—2011 on TLC, and is currently on CNN-owned HLN network, streamed on digital platforms by FilmRise, and distributed to television outlets around the world. Read more.
