Frankfurt Kurnit Adds New Charitable Organizations Partner
March 12, 2020, New York, NY - Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, PC has added J.J. Harwayne Leitner as a partner in the firm’s Charitable Organizations Group, as well as in the firm’s Estate Planning & Administration Group. Ms. Leitner will be based in the firm’s New York office.
Listed in The Legal 500 for her work for tax-exempt organizations, Ms. Leitner has represented a range of prominent charitable organizations, including the JetBlue Foundation and other JetBlue philanthropies, the Homes for the Homeless Network, the City College Fund, and the Tribeca Film Institute.

About J.J. Leitner
An accomplished charitable organizations lawyer with more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Leitner represents tax-exempt organizations of all types and sizes — including private foundations, public charities, supporting organizations, “friends of” organizations, donor advised funds, social welfare organizations, and trade associations. She serves as principal outside counsel for many of her clients, counseling on corporate governance and all tax laws that affect nonprofit organizations, including private foundation excise taxes, taxation of unrelated business income, private benefit and inurement, and lobbying and political activities. Her expertise also extends to corporate formation and governance, federal and state tax exemptions, complex corporate transactions, and nationwide state charitable solicitation issues — including cause marketing and other fundraising transactions. Ms. Leitner also regularly works with the New York Attorney General’s Charities Bureau.
