Frankfurt Kurnit Partners with the Entertainment Software Rating Board’s Privacy Certified Program
Frankfurt Kurnit is pleased to announce that its Interactive Entertainment and Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Groups are partnering with the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to enhance cooperation between ESRB’s Privacy Certified program and the firm. ESRB Privacy Certified assists companies in the video game and toy industries in implementing and maintaining lawful, transparent, and responsible data collection and privacy policies, as well as practices for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and data. In 2001, the Federal Trade Commission approved ESRB Privacy Certified to serve as one of six Safe Harbor programs, overseeing its members’ compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
“ESRB’s Privacy Certified Program plays an important role in helping to ensure that video game industry members that opt into the program are employing responsible data collection practices,” said Frankfurt Kurnit Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Group Chair Daniel Goldberg. “Our firm and many of our clients have worked with ESRB for years, and we are thrilled to formalize our longstanding relationship with the ESRB Privacy Certified program today.”
Under the agreement, ESRB and the firm will collaborate on a variety of initiatives to help educate companies in the interactive entertainment space about ESRB Privacy Certified’s services.
“We’ve long enjoyed working with Frankfurt Kurnit and their team of privacy and interactive entertainment lawyers to provide industry-relevant privacy updates and guidance to video game companies through conferences, webinars, and consultations,” said ESRB Senior Vice President Stacy Feuer. “We’re excited to formalize and take this partnership to the next level.”
