The article speaks with lawyers about the rise of sextortion cases involving CEOs and celebrities who are blackmailed with false accusations. Of a typical celebrity shakedown John is quoted saying, “The victim is told, ‘I’m going to file this in court next week unless you come to the bargaining table.’” He adds, “It gives the well-known person obvious fear of bad publicity.”
