Frankfurt Kurnit Promotes Caren Decter and Hayden Goldblatt to Counsel
Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, PC has elected Caren Decter and Hayden Goldblatt as counsel effective January 1st, 2016. Ms. Decter is now counsel to the Litigation Group and Mr. Goldblatt is counsel to the Entertainment Group.
About Caren Decter
Caren Decter is an associate in the Litigation Group, focusing on commercial dispute resolution, white collar defense and intellectual property.
She represents clients in all phases of the pre-litigation and litigation process in criminal and civil matters pending in state and federal courts around the country. Ms. Decter has extensive experience advising businesses and individuals regarding complex disputes involving criminal activity, fraud, contracts, the FCPA, RICO, copyrights, trademark and false advertising. She has also represented clients in mediations nationwide.
Ms Decter clerked for the Honorable Colleen McMahon of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ms. Decter also worked as Deputy Voter Protection Coordinator for the North Carolina Democratic Party.
Ms. Decter is the author of "California Finds California Resale Royalties Act Unconstitutional", published in IP Frontline Magazine of Intellectual Property and Technology (June 8, 2012) and the co-author of "Why Jewel v. Boxer is Wrong", published in the ABA/BNA Lawyers’ Manual on Professional Conduct (2012). She is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s White Collar Crime Committee, the American Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
She is admitted to practice in New York state courts and federal courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
About Hayden Goldblatt
Hayden Goldblatt is Counsel to our Entertainment Group, where he focuses on motion picture, television, and digital media work.
Mr. Goldblatt has wide-ranging experience in all areas of entertainment and media, representing producers, writers, directors, documentary filmmakers, actors, comedians, financiers, and independent distributors. He has negotiated complex single picture and multi-picture co-financings both on behalf of producers and financiers. He has also structured and negotiated content acquisition agreements and output deals for startup digital distribution companies.
Mr. Goldblatt was included in Variety’s Up Next List (part of its 2013 Dealmaker’s Impact Report) and in 2015 was recognized in Super Lawyers magazine as a New York-area “Rising Star” in the field of entertainment and sports.
He is a frequent speaker on legal issues in the film, television and digital media industries, and has previously spoken at Brooklyn Law School, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and the Ghetto Film School. He served as Secretary of the Entertainment Law Committee for the New York City Bar Association from 2012 through 2014.
Mr. Goldblatt is the co-founder of the Let’s Kick This Charity Soccer Tournament, an annual one-day adult soccer tournament in Manhattan, which supports Voices Against Brain Cancer.
He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey state courts and the US District Court of New Jersey.

Frankfurt Kurnit Partners with the Entertainment Software Rating Board’s Privacy Certified Program
Frankfurt Kurnit is pleased to announce that its Interactive Entertainment and Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Groups are partnering with the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to enhance cooperation between ESRB’s Privacy Certified program and the firm. ESRB Privacy Certified assists companies in the video game and toy industries in implementing and maintaining lawful, transparent, and responsible data collection and privacy policies, as well as practices for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and data. In 2001, the Federal Trade Commission approved ESRB Privacy Certified to serve as one of six Safe Harbor programs, overseeing its members’ compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
