Attorneys in Our Interactive Entertainment Group
For more than 40 years we have represented businesses and individuals in entertainment, advertising, and new technology ventures. Now, as our clients move their businesses to Web3, the metaverse, game consoles, cloud-based video game systems, phones, and social networks, we are forging new business models that help them succeed.
CLIENT BENEFITS
Led by Co-Chairs, S. Gregory Boyd and Sean F. Kane, co-authors of Video Game Law: Everything You Need To Know About Legal and Business Issues in the Game Industry, our Interactive Entertainment group represents media and entertainment companies, video game publishers, video game developers, video game distributors, esports leagues and tournament operators, animators, celebrities, consumer brands, advertising agencies, and investors.
Plan Strategies
We help clients plan interactive entertainment strategies and form ventures to profit from their video games including leveraging original video game intellectual property as well as film and television properties, characters and associated patents, trademarks, copyrights, and publicity rights.
Craft Agreements
We negotiate and draft the full range of interactive entertainment agreements – including video game development, software, service, employment, corporate, sponsorship, and end user license agreements.
Manage Intellectual Property
We help interactive entertainment clients clear, register, and manage patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other mission-critical intellectual property, and we go head to head with competitors to protect and enforce these rights.
Structure Financing
Interactive entertainment clients call on our Corporate and Tax Groups to help structure the capital raises and other infusions of funds they need to get to their next level.
Integrate Brands
We structure integration deals for brand clients that help build new relationships with consumers.
Weigh Regulatory Questions
We help clients determine which federal and state privacy and consumer protection rules and regulations apply to their new ventures – and assess the risk of adverse determinations.
Avoid Data and Privacy Breaches
Video game players share enormous amounts of information, and our Interactive Entertainment Group can help clients draft and enforce effective privacy and data policies as well as handle privacy breaches.
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
We are founding members of the Video Game Bar Association, and serve on the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law’s Computer Games and Virtual Worlds Committee, and the Section of Science and Technology Law’s Computer Games and Virtual Worlds Committee.
